Local Resources and Infrastructure
Oman is a low-cost operating region, with well developed roads, power and port infrastructure accessible throughout the nation.
The Block 4 project site is situated approximately 255km from Muscat and is connected by the National Highways (NH1). Accessibility from the city of Sohar to the project site is through the Wadi Al Jizzi Road and is approximately 30km
Sohar Deposit Mode
Sohar is consistent with a Cyrpus style of VMS deposit. These deposits form in active spreading oceanic centres proximal to vents known as black smokers. Cyprus style deposits are important sources of Copper, Zinc, Gold and Silver and occur as massive sulphide zones and disseminated stringer zones.
Typical Cyprus deposits range between 1-10Mt @ 1-3% Cu, typically clustering several smaller deposits with one larger deposit. The Semail Ophiolite, where Block 4 and 5 are located, offers significant exploration and growth potential.
